A Long Island native, Dr. Cummins began his career in veterinary medicine at age 15, working at a Huntington veterinary hospital. After starting his college education on Long Island, he transferred to Texas A&M University, where he earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees from the Department of Animal Science in 1982. Dr. Cummins attended Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. While at Michigan State, he was the recipient of the Westminster Kennel Foundation Scholarship. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1990.
Dr. Cummins enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine. When possible, he integrates alternative therapies into his practice. He supports animal rescue and assistance animals, in particular Canine Companions and the Guide Dog Foundation.
