We are excited to introduce you to Therapeutic Laser.
Dr. Cummins has been using Class IV Therapeutic Laser as an important part of his practice since 2008. The results have been so impressive that he recently purchased a brand-new unit with expanded capabilities.
Class IV laser is a way to deeply penetrate tissue without damaging it. Laser energy induces a biological response in the cells called “photo-bio-modulation”. It stimulates tissue repair and growth while decreasing pain, inflammation, & muscular spasms. It increases the blood supply, stimulates the immune system, and also nerve regeneration, leading to improved healing of injuries.
Acute conditions responsive to laser treatment include wounds, bites, hotspots, allergies, dental extractions, sprains, fractures, and post surgical pain.
Chronic conditions include arthritis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, periodontal disease, lick granulomas, ear infections, and chronic dermatitis. It is very helpful for the older dog who is finding it difficult to get up anymore due to bad back and hip disease. Because of its deep penetration it can be applied over the skin to treat asthma and chronic bladder disease.
Therapeutic Laser is safe, non-invasive and free from side-effects. It provides dramatic results, often after the first treatment, and enables patients to reduce their need for pain medications. Typically, a course of 6-12 treatments are given, 3 times per week, and then monthly repeats. Each treatment is an out-patient procedure taking 5-15 minutes, without need for anesthesia. If you think your pet may benefit from Therapeutic Laser, call and schedule an appointment.
